Jüri Pootsmann'a.
На следующее утро у молодежи была возможность поделиться частичками своих проектов через проведение рабочих комнат.
А я сама присутствовала как лидер группы из Sillamae и Нарвы, так как ребята несовершеннолетние и нуждались в сопровождении взрослого :)

Erasmus +

Состоялась встреча (инфо-час или базар) в училище нашего города Sillamae Vocational School.

You and the environment

What is the environment?

When we talk about our environment we mean everything in the world around us which can affect our lives.
When we talk about the environment we mean everything in the world around us that surrounds and affects all life on earth, including the air, food chains, the water cycle, plants, animals and other humans.
Climate change is one of the really big environmental changes that is affecting the lives of people, animals and plants all over the world.
Climate change is one of the really big environmental changes that is affecting the lives of people, animals and plants all over the world.

Why the environment needs our help

Five basic needs of human beings from the environment are oxygen, water, food, shelter and warmth.
We get these from the planet on which we live.
  • We breathe oxygen from the air
  • We get water from the rain which fills our lakes, rivers and creeks and which we store in dams, reservoirs and water tanks.
  • We get food from the plants, animals, fish and birds.
  • We get shelter from the materials we take out of the earth and from plants that grow in the earth (trees) to make our homes.
  • We get warmth from the sun, fire, power (electricity, gas, oil) and our clothing.
  • Apart from warmth and light from the sun, these all come from our planet.
But over the years the human population has grown and grown. This has had a huge impact on the environment of our planet.
This impact has caused changes which have affected our atmosphere
    • by polluting it (too much smoke, carbon dioxide and other 'green house gases' such as methane),
    • by making holes in the ozone layer which protects us from some harmful rays of the sun
Everything living on the earth has basic needs. Humans have caused so many changes that many living things cannot get what they need. Some of the changes have led to the extinction of many kinds of wildlife (animals, plants, insects, etc).
We are beginning to realize that our basic human needs are being affected also.

So what do we need to teach our children?

    • If you can't find a bin, take your rubbish home.
    • Plant more trees, they give us oxygen and shade.
    • Stay off sand dunes at the beach so that they don't get damaged.
    • Looking for small creatures at the beach is fun, but be sure to put them back under cover or they could die.
    • And many other things...
    • For that I took a part in an event with my youth center yesterday. We went to a little "hiking" near the seaside in our town with kids and tried to clean it up as much as we could. Explaining theoretically how to keep our environment clean is good, but I think cleaning up after others is a better lesson for children, so they won't do the same as others did, at least for themselves, as they won't do the "dirty" and hard job after them :)

On The Beat with...

So, after coming back from Latvia, we began to prepare for the upcoming music academy..

But before, I would like to tell you about the place, where I'm doing my EVS (most of my project time I'm going to spent here).

Ulei Sillamäe Huvi- ja Noortekeskus-Sillamäe Youth Centre „Beehive“- is an organization of supplementary education and activities of interest, which contributes all-round development of the individual, despite the age. Center works in three fields: 1. Education of interests 2. Activities of interests 3. Youth and cultural work.

"Beehive" has lots of traditional events- concerts, exhibitions, New Year's performances, summer camps, international festival of dance styles „Stylevision“, town competition of young singers „Sillamäe Song Carousel“, Children’s day and new projects. Workers of "Beehive" have participated in seminars to exchange experiences, as well as hosted colleagues from other schools and youth organizations.
The center is very active in the field of international youth work, they make their own projects and participate in different projects.

You can read some more in the site, but it's only on russsian and estonian ;)

Then we went to the House of Culture for a jazz concert :)))

Масленица/ Maslenitsa in Russia then Latvia ^^

So, my first trip during the EVS project started in 2 days right after my arrival :) I went to Velikie Luki, Russia, with the staff of Ulei and children/youth, who're studying there, going to different groups, dancing singing and theater... This was my very first trip to Russia (I only was at St. Petersburg for about 5-6 hours after my plane's arrival, and while waiting for the bus, I was just walking there in this winter/cold time). During this trip I opened for myself a happy tradition, about what I'm going to tell a little bit to you today and there will be some photos from the trip too, so you could see what I have seen there ;)

Since long ago there is a tradition in Russia (and in Baltic states russians are celebrating it too) to say “goodbye” to winter and “hello” to spring. The holiday of seeing off of the winter is called Maslenitsa. It's a favourite holiday in the country. It lasts from Monday till Sunday. It comes either at the end of February or at the beginning of March, this is so-called movable festival. This holiday means the end of winter and the spring coming. It has pagan origin. During this holiday people visit each other, children play snowballs, light bonfires, enjoy horse-sledging. The concert is held in the city on this matter, the artists sing age-old songs, chastushkas and organize practical jokes. People take part in different competitions, ride horses and drink hot tea with pancakes not to be frozen. The pancakes are the main attribute of this festival because a pancake is a symbol of the sun.

The festival always ends in burning of a big man of straw.

The Lenten fast begins after Maslenitsa for orthodox believers. During these days people should avoid eating any kind of meat, but they are to eat much butter, cheese, sour cream, lots of pancakes. I consider that this festival brings people together and let them enjoy themselves and meet the spring together.

This are a couple of photos from the group, I was traveling with...

Teacher students and not only :)

Snowman dressed up people (idk from which city) :)

So, then we did the games...

Everybody, who were winning were getting some cookies and sweets as a present :)

Too much photos for one post, but I do have a couple more, from Latvia.
We went to Daugavpils (it heard for me like Dolgopups from the Harry Potter, the guy named Nevil ;)). We stayed there for a night, at the sport complex's campus, and next morning we went to Rezekne for the Maslenitsa.

Here is it...

At first the concert...

A big dancing pancake of course :)

And finally we went back to the games, sweets and cookies :)

After all of this of course walking in the city, shoping, food, drinks, singing, playing guitar and having interesting conversations, taking a rest, getting ready to go back to Estonia :)
Was interesting and funny, if you're used to cold,  recommend you to try one year go somewhere in Russia or Baltics (cities and towns, where the most are living Russians) and spent with them your holidays while there is Maslenitsa ^^ or just dress up very well and warm, then go ahead have some Russian cold fun ;)))...
